Documents

Application Checklist

All certified documents must be certified within 3 months by SAPS or a Commissioner of Oaths. Verify the latest requirements at nsfas.org.za.

Upload documents as clear, legible PDFs. NSFAS gives 30 days after a 'Documents Outstanding' status — after that, your application may be marked unsuccessful. This checklist is a guide only; always confirm the latest requirements at nsfas.org.za.

Protect Yourself from NSFAS Scams

Scammers specifically target NSFAS applicants. Know what's real.

There is NO official NSFAS app

Any app claiming to be official is a scam. Only use my.nsfas.org.za in your browser.

NSFAS will NEVER ask for your password or PIN

Anyone asking for your password, OTP, or banking PIN over phone or WhatsApp is a scammer. Hang up.

Nobody can 'fast-track' your application for a fee

These are always scams. Applications are processed by NSFAS in order. No one can jump the queue.

Ignore SMS links claiming approval

Scam SMSes with shortened links are common. Delete them. Check status only at the official portal.
