What StudentFundza is
StudentFundza is an independent information site about the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). We are not NSFAS, not the Department of Higher Education and Training, and not connected to any bursary scheme or government body.
We exist because the official NSFAS information is spread across multiple government portals, circulars, and policy documents — and students often need a single, plain-English answer to a specific question at a specific moment. We try to be that answer.
Who runs it
StudentFundza is run by a South African student currently studying at a public university. The site was built in 2026 out of first-hand frustration with how scattered and confusing NSFAS information can be — particularly for first-generation tertiary students who have no older family member to explain what "provisionally funded" or "awaiting documents" actually means in practice.
We have no advertising or financial relationship with NSFAS, any university, or any student lender. Our only revenue is sponsored banners and affiliate links to financial products — always labelled and never disguised as editorial recommendations.

How content is written and checked
Every figure, date, and policy detail on this site is sourced from one of the following:
- The official NSFAS Bursary Rules (published annually by NSFAS on nsfas.org.za)
- The NSFAS Loan Scheme Guidelines (published on nsfas.org.za)
- Official NSFAS circulars and press releases
- The myNSFAS student portal (my.nsfas.org.za)
Source links are included in each article. Content is reviewed before the start of each new NSFAS application cycle. When NSFAS changes a figure or deadline, we update the affected page and change the "Reviewed" date at the top of it.
We do not guess or estimate. If a NSFAS figure has not yet been officially published for the upcoming year, we use the most recent confirmed figure and label it as such.
What we cannot do
We cannot see your NSFAS application, change your status, or contact NSFAS on your behalf. Only NSFAS can decide funding outcomes. For your application, always use the official portals: www.nsfas.org.za and my.nsfas.org.za. NSFAS never charges a fee to apply.
